Two girls, one heart. This is a sweet story about Eagan, a promising figure skater who's life is cut short by missing a landing by a quarter of an inch, and Amelia who due to a heart defect is nearing the end of her short life….unless…you guessed it----she can find a suitable heart donor. The book moves along at a quick pace with each chapter alternating between Eagan's in limbo existence and Amelia trying to adjust to her new "shared" life with Eagan's heart. I liked the changing perspectives, but I felt like each girl was a little type-cast. Eagan cast as the typical over-worked, pressure-cooked teen and Amelia as the humble, unassuming ill child. There are nice little romances in the book and an interesting climax. I think this book would definitely appeal to girls and I could see this as an excellent motor-daughter book club read. The mother-daughter relationships are front-and-center in this novel and could elicit good discussion. |
