One fine day, Bruno, the protagonist of the story, finds his entire home is being packed up to be moved. He doesn't know where they are going, only that it is a great honor because an important man, one Bruno calls 'the Fury', gave his father a new job. The story of Bruno gives us a different perspective into live in and around concentration camps. Bruno has no concept of what is going on, only that he has no friends to play with and when he finally finds someone his own age, that boy is behind a wired fence. Although the outcome is predictable, the pace and perspecitve of the story allows the reader to see through the eyes of the protagonist, and hope for a different outcome, even though we know how it will end. |
